I am. I can. I will. Mindfulness and confidence building activity

**Nowadays we are becoming more just how much more aware we need to be. The importance **of developing an inner compass that points to an attitude of self belief, determination, resilience and being kids to others, will carry us well through life. This is something that anyone who has every tried to achieve something in their lives knows too well, and I’m sure understand the value of learning this at a young age. This resource is inspired by the morals from my book so can be incorporated into literacy/guided reading lesson, and aims to create class discussion through the introduction of news words or reflecting on words already learned and how they can personally apply them to their own life, which leads to children creating positive self declarations which they can take home with them and keep safe. This resource aims to show children potential and the endless possibilities before them, and the important of a positive mental attitude. Includes worksheets to be used as a poster. Flash cards to introduce new words and phrases and to help them to fill out the worksheet. Commonwealth Games 2018 5 in a Row Bingo

Celebrate the Commonwealth Games 2018 with this fun bingo game. There are enough cards for the whole class. 35 bingo cards included. I have played this game with my own class this week and they loved it. On each screen is a high quality image of the countries flag so that students can begin to associate which flag goes with which country. This game can be run on computers, whiteboards or projectors. All that is required is that you print, cut and laminate the Number Boards and press start on the PowerPoint Show. If you don’t have access to the technology, no problem, I have included a document with all of the country names on. Then you can do it old school and pull them out of a hat. The order of countries can be simply changed by pressing the shuffle button at the start. Each slide stays there for 10 seconds before it transitions to the next slide. If you want it to go quicker then simply click on it. I prefer to let it just run as it gives me a bit of quiet time while all the students are engaged. Instructions have been included if you are not sure how to play. Enjoy!!!

'Determined Dreamer' Classroom activity & Poster Bundle

**Encourage, affirm and build confidence, teamwork and positive attitude with these stunning posters. Includes 3 posters in one, plus bonus image & teachers notes. For use as a classroom, small focus group, home schooling and as a family. ** 1 - ‘Dream/Goal Poster’ A dream or a goal is only worth pursuing if it’s so big it stretches us; causes us to become bigger so we can reach high enough to achieve it. What is the goal/dream that your’e aiming for as a class? Write it on this poster so you can see what it is that you are moving towards, so you don’t forget. 2 - ‘Attitude Rucksack Poster’ - When going on a journey towards our dreams, just like Ernie, it’s important to pack a bag with all the things we need for our journey. But what about our attitude? What attitude do we need to reach our dreams and goals in life and in the classroom? Together think about what words you would need in order to have the right attitude to be a determined dreamer, and then choose the most important ones to put in the class ‘Attitude Rucksack’. Use the poster image to write up the words to be reminded of them everyday. 3 - ‘Determined Dreamer Poster’ - On the journey towards our dreams it’s important to know that there will likely be challenges along the way, bumps in the road, things that will make us want to give up, will cause us to think we cant do it and to question/doubt why we even decided to do it in the first place. Decide together as a class your ‘Determined Dreamer Phrase’; the phrase you can say to yourself and to each other when it just get so tough that you want to give it all up. Use a classroom activity and display on walls, or can be used in PHSE lessons. Posters are based on the book; ‘Ernie Gonzales: The Determined Dreamer’, and the main theme of the book, which is available on Amazon or Etsy, however these resources are not dependent on the book. Going for Goals - 'Fill the Sky with you Biggest Dream'

Beautiful colouring/sheet sheet and text from the book to encourage to children to think about what their dreams maybe. Extract from the book reads; ‘Dreams are precious things. They are worth more than silver or gold, yet they are free. Everyone can own a dream, no matter who they are or where they are from. Dreams must be loved, treasured, nurtured and encouraged to grow strong and blossom.’ Text creates a wonderful discussion point on the beauty, and the importance, of having a dream in their life, something they work towards hope for, something that is just for them. This could lead into their own poem about dreams. Share children’s finished work with the author, by getting in touch with me on here, I would love to see their work and maybe share on my website. Curling Winter Olympics Vocabulary game for Interactive Whiteboard

Curling Winter Olympics Vocabulary game for Interactive Whiteboard

Tying in with the Winter Olympics 2018, this is a curling game which I have used for MFL lessons (ask differentiated vocabulary and / or conjugation questions to decide who goes first, and whether students can launch a stone / how many stones they are allowed to launch). Points are gathered either by ‘zone’ the stone is touching, e.g. 1 for outer (blue), 2 for outer white, 3 for red and 4 for inner white, or (like the real curling game) you score depending on how close you are to the middle. If the closest stone is red or yellow, that team gets 1 point. If the second closest is the SAME colour, that team gets 2 points. If it is a different colour, the closest team only gets 1 point, etc. Users simply flick the stone from behind one of the two lines (for left- and right-handed players) towards the house and the scores are totalled after all 8 have been thrown.

Winter Olympics 2018 Lesson/Assembly Presentation

Winter Olympics 2018 Lesson/Assembly Presentation

If you want some extra information about the 2018 Winter Olympics then go through this interesting interactive PowerPoint presentation, It takes you through the different event categories; why the emblem was the way it was; and why there was a white cat with stripes. This presentation is not only informative, it has links to 24 short videos that show top athletes performing in each of the sports. If they watched the Winter Games, your students will probably tell which videos to show. Some of these videos are amazing . We watched our greatest medal hope, Elise Christie, succumb to the perils of Short-Track Speed Skating, but have you seen when it worked in favour of Steven Bradbury when he 'won' his unbelievable Gold Medal win in the 2002 Olympics – it really was a matter of Last Man Standing! The topics covered within the presentation include: Location and dates, Venues and the stadiums The emblems and mascots The events and their pictograms. Note that the presentation contains interactive buttons which allow you to jump to different parts of the presentation and then return. My recommendation is that you go through the presentation slide by slide until you get to the information on the venues. From here, I recommend that you select the particular sports that take your interest. If you have a live Internet connection, then watch some of the videos – especially the ones that I’ve labelled with 5-stars. If you like this presentation then please leave a review.
